Oops!

Totally forgot to update over here. I’ve been making Youtube videos. So far, I’ve covered hair and makeup. Not sure what else I’ll put on my channel yet. But I’m just checking in to say that I had my hair twisted up from Nov 1 through Dec 11, I believe. I’m so glad to have them out of my hair. Even though the twists weren’t too small, my hair still wanted to get tangled. So I’ll get back to putting loose hair into protective styles or at least low manipulation styles. Since the twists have been out, I’ve worn my hair in side buns, double french rolls with bangs, then a HUGE side puff. Currently, my hair is in a plastic cap under a towel getting my deep condition on. Think I’ll bun it for the rest of the week. That’s the lazy thing to do and I’m lazy.

Protective style 2 week check-in

So I washed and twisted my hair 2 weeks ago. I was due to wash it this past weekend but I had some serious dry scalp issues with the weather changes. So I washed it around Tue or Wed. I oiled my scalp, conditioned my twists, sealed with some oil and re-twisted a few to keep from looking fuzzy. I moisturized again yesterday by spritzing with water. I sealed with olive oil and re-twisted with aloe gel. I also oiled my scalp. It feels much better now.

As far as the styling goes, some of my ends were exposed for maybe a day. Any other time, my ends have been on lock via buns and pin-ups. I was never a fan of protective styles before but it’s growing on me. And it helps with being tired in the morning. I can just take off my scarf, bonnet or stocking cap and just go. I think the plan is to keep my hair in twists, even during washes. My twists are not small but medium sized. So far, I’ve managed the same styles from when my hair was in smaller twists. At this point, I don’t see the point in twisting any smaller. That’s just more unnecessary work.

Hmm, I wonder if I can continue to maintain my hair in these twists for months. Wash in twists, moisturize, seal, then re-twist. It’s a lot less tedious than breaking out the detangling comb. It’s keeping more hair out of my comb/brush and on my head.
